An interview with Dmitry Okorokov, Chief Executive Officer at InfiNet Wireless
What are the main trends in the development of wireless broadband access equipment and how does InfiNet Wireless keep up with these?
Up until recently, the wireless sector of the telecoms market prioritized the performance increase in base stations and subscriber terminals. Today, however, our R&D team focuses primarily on the optimization of complete wireless infrastructures as a whole. InfiNet Wireless aims to create a modeled network that comprises of several base stations virtually interconnected with a large number of subscriber terminals, an approach which accurately predicts a given solution’s performance within a specific frequency range, in various environmental conditions and for all scenarios of spectrum availability. Our experts know perfectly well that a good wireless design is not just about assembling state-of-the-art components in an appropriate enclosure, but more about ensuring the efficient processing of data streams and never encountering bottlenecks along their route in any part of network. In addition, our solutions are continuously enhanced by optimizing their complete eco-system, so not only do we add more to the existing functionality but also aim to add yet more value to the end users.
Does this mean that the company goes beyond just hardware production?
Over the years, we have significantly grown our R&D teams which are today based in our Ekaterinburg and Bucharest offices. In addition to designing our own hardware and associated firmware, we also design various supporting applications such as InfiMONITOR, a user-friendly yet powerful network management system for broadband wireless networks of all sizes. The software tool allows the end users to monitor the exact status of their network in a dynamic fashion, make relevant changes when adding or relocating remote nodes, uploading software updates to one or all network elements, etc. whilst at the same time providing full scalability and flexibility to meet future requirements. Additionally, we have developed and released to our valued partners and customers a major upgrade of our InfiPLANNER, a cloud-based planning tool that supports all InfiNet product families. We are also working on various new tools for the wireless industry, but more details will be released in a very near future.
InfiNet Wireless is marketed as a carrier-grade equipment manufacturer. What are the requirements for this grade?
Many experienced engineers and network consultants often state that wireless links are usually to be considered as temporary solutions only since such technology was often deemed not stable enough. This is indeed true of very low cost solutions from vendors who simply do not invest enough in quality products, but at InfiNet Wireless, we continue to prove all of them wrong. The key driver behind everything we do when designing our wireless solutions is the provision of the highest quality of service possible with any type of unit we ship, and ultimately peace of mind for the end users. The thousands of networks we have deployed in all corners of the world are a true testimony to the reliability we offer, whether they are for simply connecting two remote locations, or providing a complete platform for homeland security and other mission-critical applications. The flexibility of all our wireless solutions enables us to seamlessly integrate into an existing service provider’s infrastructure, whatever its complexity and reach, saving valuable resources to all parties involved.
What will InfiNet Wireless be showcasing at this year’s Mobile World Congress?
InfiNet Wireless will be unveiling during MWC 2017 its brand new InfiLINK XG 1000, the fastest Point-to-Point wireless solution available in the marketplace today. Designed specifically to meet the backhauling needs of service providers of all types, as well enterprises from all industry sectors, whether deployed for applications such as 4G/LTE backhauls, digital oilfields connectivity or homeland security, to name but a few, the XG 1000 can provide throughputs of up to 1 Gigabit per second over the air in 5 GHz license-free frequency bands, effectively doubling the capacity of InfiNet's current high performing product, the InfiLINK XG. We want visitors to our booth to see that InfiNet not only offer quality wireless solutions that meet the ever-increasing demands of service providers for higher capacity, but also future-proofed solutions which are designed using the most up-to-date wireless technologies.
